Did Jesus sin?

Did-Jesus-sin

No, but as a man Jesus was tempted in all points as we are, and if He had done His own will, He would have sinned. Nevertheless, Jesus never once committed sin! By this incredible faithfulness and obedience to God, Jesus opened a way for us. If I follow Him, I do not have to sin, either!

As a man, Jesus was tempted
The Bible clearly tells us that Jesus, being in the form of God, made Himself of no reputation and came in the likeness of men. Phil 2: 5-7. Elsewhere it also tells us that He was born of the seed of David, and that He was made like His brethren in all things, partaking of flesh and blood and, very significantly, that He suffered, being tempted. (Rom. 1:1-3, Hebr. 2:14-18).

Jesus took upon Himself human nature, and it was because of this that He could be tempted. “Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” James 1:13-14.

Jesus never did His own will
In Hebrews 4:15 we read that Jesus was tempted in all points just as we are, but that He NEVER committed a single sin. When He was tempted, Jesus chose to suffer rather than give in to the lusts and desires from His flesh. As He said Himself, He came to do God’s will, and not His own, human will—the lusts and desires in His flesh (Luke 22:42, Hebr. 10:5-7). By not giving in to temptations, He was able to put sin in the flesh to death, and because of this He overcame the death that is the wages of sin, and became the author of eternal salvation for all those who want to follow Him on the same way.
