What happens when I have sinned?

The Bible makes it very clear that sin has consequences. In fact, all sin leads to death, not only physical death, but more seriously, in a spiritual sense. This spiritual death is a separation from God, exclusion from His grace and from eternal life.
Is there no hope for me as a sinner? Yes indeed! God in His enormous love and grace has given me the opportunity for salvation from sin, wholly and completely. Firstly, that all the sin I have committed can be totally forgiven through His Son, Jesus Christ. My guilt is wiped out and I have the opportunity to start a whole new life.
This new life consists of doing God’s will rather than living in sin, following my self-will. Then I have the opportunity to enter a process called sanctification, where I not only have victory over manifest, conscious sin, but also can come to a cleansing from the very root of sin—the sin in my flesh, my lusts and desires, that tendency to sin that all people have inherited from Adam. This is the salvation of the new covenant.
